About GRE Exam Details: 

The Full Form of GRE is Graduate Record Examination is a standardised test that is accepted for admission to various disciplines at many graduate and business schools across the world. Many schools have accepted the GRE test as an alternative to the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test). Candidates who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree, specialised master’s course, MBA or doctoral degree can take the GRE Exam. There are many top Business Schools in US, Canada, UK, France and even Asian countries are also accepting GRE Scores for admission to their graduate programmes.

GRE is conducted by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), a US based organisation. GRE Test is available both in computer-based and paper-based formats. The Graduate Record Examination  is available at over 1000 test centres in more than 160 countries. It covers 3 major sections i.e. Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning & Quantitative Reasoning.

Eligibility Criteria for GRE

There is no specific GRE Eligibility Criteria for the test. Hence, the candidates sitting for GRE Exam do not have to fulfill any necessary requirements. However, various universities that accept GRE scores have their own criteria of admission.

GRE Fee Structure:

The Fees for GRE General Test is $205 and GRE Subject test is $150 (approx Rs.9000/-). While compare to GMAT Exam Fee this is cheaper. There are extra charges of $50 if you want to change your center or reschedule the GRE Test.

Note: The GRE Fee may vary according to the country. You cannot pay in Indian rupees. Acceptable forms of payment are credit or debit card/money order/certified check/voucher for computer-based tests.

Ways to Apply GRE:

There are three ways in which you can apply for the GRE Exam i.e. Online Registration, Phone Registration, and Mail Registration.

Register for GRE Computer-Based Test

The computer-based test is offered year round, and you can register online or by phone. How you register may vary depending on where you will test.

Register for the Paper-Based Test

The paper-based test is offered up to 3 times a year in areas of the world where the computer-delivered test is not available, and you can register online or by mail.

GRE Test Date:

The GRE Exam Date, depends on the availability of the test centre selected by the applicant. If the seats in the specific test centre is filled on that particular date, the candidate has to either select a new date or go to a different test location.

  • Total duration of the Computer-based test is 3 hours 45 minutes
  • There are 6 sections with a 10-minute break following the third section.
